NDARABI DAMILOLA FATIMA FROM UNILORIN LEGAL AID CLINIC
EXPERIENCE: My experience is one filled with adequate
enlightenment and exposure, especially what the practise of law entails, as well as the effectiveness of pro bono.
LEARNING: I learnt that it requires lots of mindfulness and
patience as well as a realistic dose of professionalism to become a legal
practitioner. Having to maintain a poker face during client interviews is a
tough act to learn.
FEELING: It feels positively life-altering to partake in
this project, so much I can foresee lots of pro bono volunteerism in my future,
directly or otherwise. It is filled with lots of adrenaline and purpose.
CHANGE OF PERSPECTIVE: The experience further encouraged me that being a
lawyer does not really cut it, one has to become a social changer/influencer.
IMPROVEMENT: The provision of a working curriculum that would
help enlighten and train clinicians in the nearest future will further
encourage law students to become members or volunteers in their faculty law
clinics across the country while also creating deeper enthusiasm and
anticipation for future projects of this kind.
