And it was 5:30am on a
Thursday morning, i remembered i had an appointment as i already
applied for the re-interview of some of the inmates which are the cases
am working on i quickly got up and got ready for the journey to Aba
prison.
After the interview i decided to work on cases; Chibueze Okoroafor and Ugwu Ikechukwu. I communicated with Chibueze Okoroafor's next of kin, and they where ready to get a surety to sign, however Ugwu Ikechukwu's next of kin phone number has not reachable till date, i decided to start working with Chibueze okoroafor first.
At the application for the charge sheet of Chibueze Okoroafor , i realised he has case mates; Chukwu Johnson and Abel Dickson, at that instance I had to go back to the prison and get the details of the other two which i did the same day.
After getting the documents from court, I called the next of kin so that we would decide on the next day i will return, the number which i have always been using to contact them all these while went off, and when i tried the second line he gave me the person who responded said he doesn't know anyone with the name, Chibueze Okoroafor, okay going with the details of the other two, no one of them gave me the phone number of their next of kin, Abel Dickson gave me an address which was not exact, I walked around the area he directed me to for over two hours and yet no one agreed to have heard the name.
At that point i lost all energy, going back to the prison, i met with the warder who directed me to an office, after I expalianing to the officer in charge, I told him i needed another case to work on, he handed me the details of one Chibuike Imoh, he was also brought to me and i interviewed him, I have sucessfully obtained his charge sheet, but his next of kin is not in Abia State at the moment but promised to let me know on his return, am still in constant communication and hoping for a positive end this time.
Yes working on these cases are quite stressful but without dispute the gain is bigger, i have acquired so much from this Nulia Project , that has helped me academically and I believe will help me as Lawyer, all thanks to Nulia, hope to participate more often.
